Library Day: Norwood Branch

Yesterday we looked at Cincinnati Public Library's Madeira branch. Today I'm showing off a few photos from the Norwood branch.

The Norwood branch was actually the branch that sparked the idea for "Library Day." Dan and I drive by this gorgeous branch once in a while and always say that we ought to visit... next time. Finally, when our library-lovin' friends Miranda and Erica visited, we had the excuse we needed to visit this beautiful branch of the library.

While Madeira's branch seemed very family-oriented, we saw a lot more about job searching and resume building in Norwood. This sparked a long conversation with Erica and Miranda about how libraries cater to their unique audiences... apparently there are a lot of ways that branches research their readers and community members so they can tailor their content to them.

Love Hunger Games!

(This is our friend Erica, by the way. Ain't she a beaut?)

Betta's Italian Oven

I've had Betta's in my bookmark list on Yelp for a while. We've driven past it a number of times and I've wanted to try it out. Last night we were burnt out on our usual haunts and decided to go somewhere new and I suggested we take a drive and give it a try. Betta's has a great menu, full of options ranging from soups, sandwiches and pizza to a full menu of italian classics.

I opted for their wood fired pizza and was not let down. Wood fired pizza's seem to be the thing lately, but not everyone does them well. Betta's does them just right. Tons of toppings and cooked enough to be crispy around the edges.

Erica went for the special, a veggie lasagna that came bathed in Betta's house tomato sauce. It looked pretty tasty and she was happy with her choice on what had turned into a very cold and snowy night in Norwood.

If you find yourself in Norwood and are looking for a place to eat, definitely stop by Betta's.

Gordo's Pub & Grill

I've recently talked about Terry's Turf Club and Zip's, but my friend Evan (@nth_degree) insisted that the Cincinnati burger was actually in Norwood, at a place called Gordo's.

First off, I'd like to mention how awesome it was to meet up with Evan, Sara and co. I only know Evan through Twitter-- except for a quick hello during the fateful architecture tour that ended with Dan and I buying a condo-- and spending a little time together at this charming bar was worth the trip on its own.

And then there was the burger. I copied Evan and ordered the Gordo's Burger, which came slathered in bacon, mushrooms, boursin cheese and more. (I'm typically a lettuce and tomato kind of girl, but I'm trying to grow up a bit.) Mm, so delicious! It was a different burger experience for me, but it was definitely one I'd repeat.

So! Who's going back with us? And/or where is the next stop in the Burger Tour?
