I've been a cycling enthusiast for most of my life. Whether it was my time at the BMX track as a kid or mountain biking and road racing as I got older, it's always been part of my life.
One thing that wasn't part of my life were bike shops. Even as an avid rider and fairly competent bike tech, I found them rather intimidating and in a lot of cases unfriendly. Most of my parts and tools I'd order online and avoid the local bike shop if at all possible. There are some things you really need a shop for though, and with a recently started cycling project of mine, I was in need of a local shop to do some work on a frame I purchased.
Selecting a shop isn't the shot in the dark it used to be. With sites like Yelp and other online services, you can get a good feel for a place before visiting. That is how I ended up at Reser Bicycle Outfitters. I've seen their name come up a number of times on other local blogs in regards to area events and on Queen City Bike. I had also gotten a few recommendations via Twitter from other cyclists in the area.
Out of all the bike shops in town, these guys are the most friendly and probably have one of the more comfortable shops I've been in. A lot of other shops are rather dark, hard to navigate, or they hide everything behind a counter which makes casual browsing a pain. At Reser, everything is easy to find, out in the open and the staff is friendly and wants to help you with whatever it is you need.
I was a little nervous going in, as I had some very specific frame work I needed done for a bike build I am doing. They were immediately on the same page and even suggested a couple things I hadn't thought of. The work was done quickly and very professionally. I've been back a few times since for various other things and have had good experiences each time.
I would definitely recommend Reser if you're in need of anything bike related, whether it's service or a new bicycle. They carry a full range of bikes that fit any need or price range you may be looking for.

I give them a hearty recommendation as well. I needed a new way to mount my bike lock to my bike frame. They had a completely different solution. One that mounts it to my handlebar. Works far better than the one I intended.
